&TextStrings=About this presentation|This 2-part slide show briefly describes the 10_Q e-Learning authoring program and its features. It is intended to acquaint you with the product’s potential for creating multimedia presentations and computerized tests. |The slide show will also help you get used to the Presentation section interface – the control and navigation buttons. Please do the exercises of the ‘Demo test’ to find out what the Test section has to offer. Feel free to experiment by editing frame object specifications and exercise content. Soon you will, hopefully, be creating projects of your own!|Click the right arrow button of the ‘Frames’ group to go to the next frame, please!|Notes: 1. The program works in ‘full screen’ mode. Press Escape to exit this mode; click the grey button in the top right corner to restore it.
2. There might be some small differences between the pictures on the slides and the ‘pages’ in the current version of the program due to the continuous efforts for improvement.||

&TextStrings=Briefly about some 10_Q files and folders |10_Q projects are saved as ‘.txt’ files. These are text-only, user editable documents. They have a specific structure and contain readable text plus numerical data. There are help pages in the program giving all necessary information about the format and ‘syntax’ of test and presentation ‘.txt’ files. |Please click the right arrow button of the Unfold group for more information!|When you start work on a test or a slide show, you have to enter the name of a Project folder where all associated content will be kept. If the folder doesn’t exist, it will be created for you in the program directory, together with a ‘support folder’ inside it (with the same name) to store the necessary content and media files. Two or more projects can share the same Project folder and Support folder; for a ‘related’ test-and-presentation pair, this is a must.|For a media-rich e-Learning project, however, you need audio, video, pictures, etc. With the 10_Q program, you can use all of the above, and the respective files are neatly organized inside a ‘support folder’. Please read about ‘project’ and ‘support’ folders on the ‘Mode of work’ page in the program!|‘Backgrounds’ is an important folder in the program directory. It contains images and color patterns intended to make test pages and slides more visually appealing. The files in this folder, named ‘1.png’, ‘2.png’, etc., are linked to the buttons in the bottom left corner of the screen. Please go to the next frame to learn more about setting the background! |

The top left button opens ‘1.png’, the one below it opens ‘4.png’, and so on. With the original files inside the folder, the first 4 rows of buttons are linked to color patterns and the last row is linked to images.|Please go to the next frame to learn about 10_Q slide shows!|Please go to Unfold, step 2, for more information about backgrounds!|You may, however, use the 20 extra files in the folder or your own background pictures. The files must be in ‘png’ format, and you must follow the above-mentioned naming convention. You may not change the name of this folder and, to be on the safe side, the files shouldn’t be too large in size.|Here is an enlarged view of the ‘decor’ buttons. All 15 backgrounds are customizable. Having blue, green, red, and orange buttons may help you organize your ‘backdrops’ according to their prevailing color. The black buttons are currently linked to images. The left arrow button at the bottom will hide the whole group, or make it reappear, respectively.|

&TextStrings=The structure of a 10_Q presentation|After you log in, you can choose to go either to the Test or to the Presentation section. Let’s first explore the one where you create, edit, or run slide shows. To get to the Presentation Developer’s Map (main page), enter a Project folder name and the name of a new or existing project in the respective text fields, and click the ‘Slide show’ button. |A 10_Q presentation consists of up to 20 composite frames but you can ‘link’ 2 files for a massive 40-frame slide show.
‘Composite’ here means that a frame’s content may be revealed gradually, in steps. This is a key feature of the program and will be discussed in more details later. |Click the right arrow button of the ‘Unfold’ group to see the ‘Mode of work’ page!|Please return to Unfold, step 1, or advance to the next frame. |From the very start, the user is given help and advice on different aspects of the program. The information appears either in a pop-up window, in a dedicated text area (see the example on the right), or on a separate page when longer explanations, examples, or images are provided.|

&TextStrings=Creating a frame (2). Text editing page.|We type in or paste text into text fields (TFs) and further adjust their size and location on the Text editing page. For each TF, we choose a font; there are 3 on the menu but we can use any font installed on the computer; just enter its name. We also set the font size (any even value between 12 and 120), style (8 combination of Regular, Italic, Bold, and Underline), text alignment (Left, Right, Center, and Justify), and color (10 basic colors).|Besides, you have a choice of 3D-and-color effects to apply to your TFs. There are 30 preset variants in 3 categories: Shadow, Outline, and Bevel. Combine these with suitable font and TF fill-in colors to get the results you want! |Click the right arrow button of the ‘Unfold’ group to see the text editing page.|Please note that the sample on the left only aims to show the diversity of formatting options.
It is not good practice to have too many different fonts, styles, colors, effects, etc., on the same slide. |Please return to Unfold, step 1, or advance to the next frame.|

&TextStrings=The Unfold feature. |If we use the full potential of a frame for displaying text fields (TFs) and images, and all objects are shown at once, the screen would be ‘overcrowded’. It is better to present frame content in steps, combining suitably text, pictures, audio, video, etc., and this is where the ‘Unfold’ feature of 10_Q comes in. On the Extra features page, you can easily set the order in which objects ‘appear’ or ‘disappear’ in 5 steps maximum.|To edit a TF or an image, you first select it by clicking it. But what if a TF is completely covered by another object? The up-arrow TF selecting button (↑) plus ‘Hide’ will help. Switch back and forth between these 2 pages, use the up-arrow TF selecting button (↑) plus ‘Hide’, or the image Select/Deselect check-boxes to bring TFs to the foreground again. |With lots of text fields (TFs) and images on the screen, editing becomes impossible. (See Unfold, step 2.) The solution is to select a TF with the ‘↑’ button and click ‘Hide’. All other objects disappear! (See Unfold, step 3.) Click ‘Show’ to make them reappear. &TextStrings=Text field functionality (3). Scrollable text – TF 5.|To display long documents, one can either use the paginated text functionality of TF 4, or take advantage of TF 5, which easily turns into a scrollable text area. Enable the feature on the layout design page, and a scroll bar will appear automatically if TF 5 is not large enough to show the whole text.|Go to Unfold, step 2, to find out more about the scrollable text field.|Please go to the next frame to learn more about inserting a table.||As an alternative to having a scrollable TF on the screen, one might consider reducing the font size (often with a negative impact on perception and comprehension), increasing the TF area with the ‘Wide’ and ‘Long’ buttons (if possible), or ... shortening the text – the least favourite option for an author ☺. |

This is clearly explained in a help page dedicated to working with tables. 3 more help pages – about TFs and images, are accessible from the layout design page. |Tables are quite common in slide shows and TF 6 of the 10_Q program offers you this useful functionality. You can arrange numerical or other data in tables with up to 6 columns, 10 rows and a header. Select TF 6, set its size, activate the feature, and specify the number of rows and columns. The area of TF 6 will be distributed evenly among vertical and horizontal cells by the program; some space will be reserved for the header row, too.||
